Materials and accessories
| Qty | Part |
|---|---|
| 1 | Beech dowel rod 6 mm |
| 1 | Coloured rubber bands |
| 1 | Wood glue (water-resistant D3) |
Also: sandpaper (grit 120 and 240), a utility knife or fine saw and, for joints, a rubber mallet.
Carving and finishing
- Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
- Carve the peg holes (5.9 mm, 10 mm deep) with the 3.175 mm end mill, engrave the labels, then cut out the board.
- Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
- Lightly break the edges with sandpaper (grit 120, then 240) and remove burrs.
Assembly and final touches
- Saw the dowel into 25 mm pieces, chamfer the ends slightly and tap them into the holes with a drop of glue; all pegs the same height.
- Stretch triangles, squares and areas with rubber bands and count the squares; on the circle show angles in 30° steps.
