Materials and accessories

6Wood screws 4 × 35 mm with wall plugs

Also: sandpaper (grit 120 and 240), a utility knife or fine saw and, for joints, a rubber mallet.

Carving and finishing

  1. Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
  2. First the hole grid and the screw holes, then cut out the board, spacer strips, hooks and shelf. The grid takes a while: better clear the chips once more.
  3. Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
  4. Before gluing, dry-fit everything. If a joint is too tight, increase the clearance by 0.05 mm and carve the part again; if it wobbles, reduce it.

Assembly and final touches

  1. Place the spacer strips behind the pegboard (they leave room for the hook noses) and screw everything to the wall through the holes with screws and wall plugs.
  2. Insert a hook at an angle with the upper tongue first, swing it down until the lower tongue sits in the hole below. The shelf rests on two long hooks.
