Also: sandpaper (grit 120 and 240), a utility knife or fine saw and, for joints, a rubber mallet.
Carving and finishing
- Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
- Engrave the star, then the 121 hollows with the 3.175 mm end mill and finally cut out the round board.
- Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
- Deburr the hollows with a sanding sponge so the marbles sit still.
Assembly and final touches
- Paint the six points in six colours. Each player puts ten marbles of their colour into one point; a move is one hole or a series of jumps over other marbles.
- Finally oil, wax or varnish; for toys use oils or varnishes that are saliva-resistant according to EN 71-3.
