Materials and accessories
| Qty | Part |
|---|---|
| 1 | Wood glue (water-resistant D3) |
| 1 | Wood paints or acrylic paints |
Also: sandpaper (grit 120 and 240), a utility knife or fine saw and, for joints, a rubber mallet.
Carving and finishing
- Clamp the workpiece flat on the spoilboard or secure it with double-sided tape, and set the origin as shown in the carving assistant.
- Engrave rings on half of the counters, mill the viewing holes, then cut out all parts.
- Free the parts at the holding tabs with a utility knife or fine saw and sand the tab remains flush.
- Deburr the counters well all round so they do not get stuck in the columns.
Assembly and final touches
- Glue the spacer strips together in pairs: this gives enough room between the walls for the counters. Glue the double strips between the columns onto one wall, flush at the top, leaving room at the bottom for the bottom rail; then put on the second wall.
- Glue the two bottom rails together and slide them in sideways at the bottom between the walls. Stand the board with its lower edge in the slots of the two feet.
- Paint the counters with a ring in one colour and the others in a second. Pull out the bottom rail to empty the board.
