Account, saving and projects

Automatic saving to your account, My projects, files and several devices.

The app uses your free myWerkzeug.de account. Projects, settings and machines are stored in it and are the same on every device.

Without an account

You can start right away without an account. Your drawing, settings and machine then stay in this browser only. Two carving jobs are free without an account; before the third the app asks for a free account. The simulation does not count. When you sign in or register, your drawing, settings and machines move into your account automatically. Sign in at the top right shows how many carving jobs are left.

Automatic saving

Every change is saved to your account shortly afterwards. Next to the project name you see the status: Saved, Saving …, Offline or Other device. Without a connection everything stays in the browser and is synchronised once you are back online.

My projects

File → My projects … (Ctrl+Shift+O) lists all projects with a preview. You can search, open and move projects to the trash. The project that is currently open cannot be deleted. Deleted projects stay in the trash for 30 days and can be restored.

Project notes

File → Notes and versions ▸ Project notes … holds free text about the project, for example material, settings, customer request or deadline (up to 2000 characters, Ctrl+Enter applies). The notes belong to the project: they are saved to your account and to the .mycnc file, can be undone and appear under the name in My projects; the search also finds words from the notes. If a project has notes, a small note icon next to the project name shows them; click it to edit.

Versions

When saving to your account, the app keeps earlier versions of every project: at most one every ten minutes, the ten most recent and one per day before that, for up to 30 days. File → Notes and versions ▸ Versions … (or the clock icon on a card in My projects) lists them with date, version, number of shapes, size, preview and notes.

  • Restore makes the selected version the current state after a confirmation. The present state is kept as a version (State before restoring), so nothing is lost.
  • Open as copy opens the version as a separate, new project; the original stays unchanged.

Versions do not count towards the number of projects. Each account has 200 MB for them; beyond that, the project with the largest versions loses its oldest first. When a project goes to the trash, its versions stay until it is deleted for good.

Save as file

Ctrl+S also saves the project as a .mycnc file, Ctrl+Shift+S under a new name. File → Open file … (Ctrl+O) loads it again. Use this to share projects or keep a copy without an account.

Several devices

Open the app on another device and you continue where you left off, with the same project and view. If two devices worked on the same project at the same time, the app asks:

  • Save my version as a copy (recommended, nothing is lost),
  • Open the version from the other device,
  • Keep my version.
